Landing Gear, Extenders, and Changes

Early planes, with big brakes and the first landing gear were prone to tip on their nose or back if the brakes were applied too vigorously. To counter that, Cessna changed to less powerful brakes and offered extenders which shifted more weight to the tail. Later, they "swung forward" the main landing gear on all the planes being made. The swung forward gear changed the cg the same amount as the shift with the extenders.

The serial number for the change to the swung-forward gear is noted, and the views show how each set works.
Recently, another plane was found with both swung-forward gear plus the extenders and the owner complained that steering and controlling on the ground was hard.
