Although this article is titled as 140A gas caps, it is really the story about what happens if the gas caps meant only for the 140A are mis-used on the 120-140 airplanes.

The 140A caps on a 140 can cause the engine to quit on climbout.

The article has been updated to include the goof by the FAA and Cessna and the advertisers on ebay who claimed that the caps meant only for the A could be safely used on the 120/140's. That goof and my inputs to the FAA resulted in the most recent SAIB all 120/140 owners should have recently received.

Cessna dealers continue to incorrectly sell the A caps to owners of the 120/140's and the ebay resource means that more are traded there without the awareness of what can happen when misused.
