"Cleo" NC76169

Hey folks,

Mike here, nice to meet y'all. Last year I acquired my PPL and my first airplane, a 1946 Cessna 120 - NC76169.

I've put about 100 hours on the airplane so far, mostly flying around my base in Ormond Beach FL. I use it to visit my family in Ocala and Melbourne, and take friends to lunch in Deland and Spruce Creek. I flew it to Sun 'n Fun last year, and I flew it on a long trip to Chicago and back over the summer. I also flew round trips to Atlanta and Miami. Most of that was on business - and with paid gas (!)

Maintenance and repairs wise, it's not been too bad. A new lightweight Skytec starter. The DG died (perhaps a GI 275 as replacement?).

Wings metalized in '55, painted in '85, interior refreshed in '92 (red painted bare metal, with tan seats - nice look), last major engine overhaul in '02. I am owner #16. #1 and #2 being Alvin Langham, WWII Veteran, 2LT US Army Air Force, and Glenn G. Morgan, WWII Veteran and USS Indianapolis Survivor. It's cool to have "all of the books" & papers going back on this plane. Original test flight paperwork, etc. So cool.

The airplane's name is "Cleo" as dubbed by the late #13 Rev. H Brough Bailey (and noted as such in the log book "Blessed Cleo with Holy Water"). Mike Sylvester, #14, was the most recent assoc. member owner I believe.

This year I am mainly looking to build time... just farting around, looking for places to go. Sun 'n Fun again. Wheel landings practice. Maybe some 120/140 assoc. events!

Cheers,
Mike

You've past the 100 hour mark, so it's time to get rid of those landing gear extenders! ;)

I have 76106. They're practically litter mates.
