1950 C140A project

I'm rebuilding a 1950 C140A that was damaged by a hangar blowing down on the tail. It's a fairly clean air frame, but has had some neglect over the last 30 years of the same owner.

I've completed the repairs of the fuselage, and have all the tail parts to repaint and install. I'll save showing photos of the repairs till the old girl is assembled.

The plane was IFR capable, but was a total disaster from the seats forward. Lots of stripping cleaning and rebuilding from the floor up. I have a few before and after photos to show the progress. It's not original, and I don't have the money to go that route, but it cleaned up to be a pretty nice VFR panel.

I think she'll be a fun plane with the O-200 and at least 30 lbs lighter after the change from IFR to VFR capabilities.

Are you going to keep the paint similar to the one in the photo? It looks beautiful.

Thanks, Woodkey, for the compliment on how she looks. Yes, I am going to keep the paint, just match it on the repairs. I'm sort of a "light weight nut" and would like to get rid of the paint weight, but don't have it in me to do that any more. I stripped and polished a C-150 many years ago, but haven't forgotten all the work involved. My first C-140 was polished, and it was a lot of work keeping it looking nice. A quick wash job is sure a lot easier!

N95L is an airplane once again with some new skins, stabilizers, elevators and rudder, and a lot of clean-up work! Also did the O-200 STC. Happy days are here again! New empty weight 1,032 lbs. Original weight, 11/29/1949, 962.5 lbs. (Both weights w/unusable fuel and no oil)

Thank you for the comment. I really appreciate it. As enjoyable as it was to work on, it's much more fun to fly!
