I'm restoring a 1946 Cessna 14 s/n 8092. in Ireland. Lots done with painting and refit still to be completed and lots still to do.
It hasn't flown in over twenty years and was last registered in the UK as B-BSUH until the 1980's and is now EI-AEG
It stated life as N89088 and spent forty years in the US with several owners.
I'd love to trace its original colours and history.
Does anyone hare any pictures of N89088 in its heyday???.
I believe it spent a lot of its life in the NY area.

Can't answer your questions, but you can order a CD with all the US records ever filed with the FAA for a very reasonable fee. Look on line at the FAA web site.

I already have the FAA files and they are a great resource.
I'm looking for pictures or to see if anyone has a recollection of this particular aircraft. I'm curious to see the colours scheme as we'd like to restore it to that. Polished aluminium looks amazing but I'm not sure how practical it would be in an Irish climate.

I think the difficulties and work of polished aluminum are way overstated.

My plane is in a hangar, rarely flown in rain. It’s probably 2.5 years from last polish. It’s far from perfect if you look close, but will blind you in the sun and everyone else thinks it looks great. There is an old 172 tied down nearby that the owner decided to strip and polish. The section he started looks pretty mirror like after a year sitting out in New England.

True, if you have ocd and want to win Oshkosh you will never stop polishing.
