Hi everyone! I am looking to buy my first airplane! I'd like it to be a 140. Any leads are appreciated!!

We have owned ours for 17 years and about 70,000 flying miles (GPS Track) I soloed in a J3 great plane and will travel too but the 120 140 faster and more comfortable with electric and some heat. The one I'm looking at has the fabric wings and as of right now in my area the only thing I could find is a shade hangar, that will have to do if I do end up getting this airplane and fingers crossed I could meet somebody with a little bit of room in their hangar to share or I'll find a hangar one of these days.

Sweet, a shade hangar will be just fine until you can find an enclosed hangar. You said the plane you are looking at is beautiful, it would be a bummer to leave a nice plane outside to deteriorate but you have that "covered" .

I agree. I'm networking at the locat airports to find a hangar but I am relieved at the minimum I can get a shade hangar. Glad to hear it will do for the time being.

I am sure I'll have lots of questions. I've enjoyed spending the last day reading about the airplane and asking others. So far everyone has positive memories of flying one. The more I learn about them the more I think it will be a good fit, especially as my first airplane! It's very exciting! Now I have to find "The One"

Randy Thompson is very experienced in C-120's and lives close?? to you. Redlands in Northern California, Thompson Air is his company. He has the STC for the 0-200 mod and several others. Also Tim Mix is up by Portland OR another very experienced tech. Both of which own and work on 120/140 aircraft. If you require help tracking them down contact me.

The very best of luck with your search. I have owned "the family airplane" since 1990, my father purchased it in 1965, so I"ve spent most of my life it. It serves as economical flying at its very best.
