I know we’ve all discussed this ongoing subject in the past, but I find myself doubting the company that previously wrote my policy (AOPA’s Assured Partners). Talked and emailed them within the last (6) six weeks concerning a renewal quote, but haven’t heard near a peep out of them since. Can anyone recommend a good insurer? I don’t know what the issue is with Assured Partners, but I’d like to have some other choices if they don't come through. Thanks

Mike

That's disturbing.

I recommend AVEMCO.

I was non-renewed because I was over 70 years old by my previous company, and my insurance broker did not do enough business for them. I've had no claims and insure for $28,000 with liability, etc.

My broker found another company for $1,900/yr
So I went to AOPA and got a quote of $3,600/yr from that same company. (I assume AOPA is just a broker not an insurance company}.

I called AVEMCO and got the same policy for $1,100. AVEMCO deals directly with the customer, so there are no commissions buried in your premium. I'm 80 now, and they require annual Basic Med, and annual flight review, which is fine with me. They like to see a transcript of FAA Wings, and/or AOPA course, but are not required.

When I was 70 and younger my premiums were much less. Of course, any coverage depends on the stated value, etc. The numbers I am mentioned are just benchmarks of a sort.

Hope this helps. Bill Suter, Bluffton, OH
