Hi All,
I need to find a CFI in the Northwest Ohio/ Southeast MI area.
Insurance requires 10 hours in make and model. Cessna 140.
I purchased an out of Annual C-140 that is located on a private strip and need to get it moved to a location so that the Annual can be done.
Once the Annual is done will I need 5 hours dual for insurance purposes.
If you know of someone interested you can post it here or PM me.
Thanks,
Rick

In order to move it legally (without taking it apart) you'll need a ferry permit. To get a ferry permit you'll need an IA to sign it off as airworthy. It might be easier and cheaper to have it annualed where it is.

I've been out of town for the past week and just saw this. We have a couple of pretty active members in NW Ohio. Did you find someone?

For future reference, an IA is not need to get a Special Flight Permit (Ferry Permit).
Go to the FAA website and download Form 8130-6.
Complete required sections.
Fax it to the FSDO who has jurisdiction of the departure airport.
If they like it, they will fax or email your approved permit along with a list of restrictions.
These include a sign off by an A&P in the maintenance logbook certifying AD compliance and safe for flight.

Re: C-140 CFI NW Ohio
You are correct. However, unless you can find an A&P who is familiar with that particular aircraft, I'd expect whoever is signing it off would want to do the equivalent of a 100 hour (same scope as an annual) inspection before signing it off. Might be easier to get an A&P than an IA, though.
