...seems to really be steady progress toward being TSO'd. At SNF they indicated being able to take orders for the "certified" market (via their dealers) by AirVenture at the latest and maybe before. For those with healthy transponders, this certainly appears to remain an excellent, practical option. Mac

It really is good news. Virtually all of the other "inexpensive" OUT options require significant installation -- wiring & GPS antenna. Also, when hardwiring new equipment in-line there's definite risk of effect on transponder tuning, especially for older transponders and that potentially can mean even more work/expense. With its "-10 minute" 3-screw install & nav wire hook-up & easy DIY programming, the SkyBeacon (and, hopefully, the soon to follow "TailBeacon") should simply sniff the transponder and perform the flight test and ongoing operation as well as the "expensive" installations. All this for less than $2,000.00. "Simply" amazing! :D It'll be interesting to see if the FAA has added any requirements (...like dedicated wiring vs. using the nav light wiring?) as they tend to have "suggestions" to add to most every "approval" generated. In any event, this is a major accomplishment by a group of very talented and dedicated folks with uAvionix. No doubt the orders are already flowing! Mac

uAvionix skyBeacon installation video. Not a C-140 but informative. I have the Whelen wing tip strobes on my 140, and don't want to reconfigure the wiring. Going with the tailBeacon instead. The skyBeacon strobe is very bright at night.

I just ordered my Sky beacon yesterday, hopefully the 337 process is a fairly simple one.

Sky Beacon Cessna 140... Can you give an update on how the Sky Beacon install went? Any mods required to fit? How was the 337 process and are you willing to share you 337? I just ordered Mine and could use any insight. THX

I installed the Skybeacon on my 140a in about a hour, it screwed right into the old nav light location. My AI charged $50 for the paperwork but I haven't had time to do the verification flight yet. So for about the easiest way to spend $1,800 on your airplane.
