If we make it to Branson it will only be for a short visit, not the entire event. We have a wedding to attend in Hot Spring that weekend.

Re: All Out Top Speed
I race my C120 in sport air race league and my speeds are 120 mph 2650 rpm 7148 prop at 1500 msl on 95*+ temp. Usually a trapezoid shaped course take winds out of factor.
I won 2016 Airventure Cup race at 131 mph for 200 mile straight line course from Mitchell SD to Faribault MN but I went high 7500 msl and caught good tail wind.
I fly full throttle everywhere only have 2 settings fire wall and idle

Re: All Out Top Speed
140mph is the best I've seen with my O290 and small tires. I have 850s now and I'm lucky to see 130 on a calm day. I've seen ground speeds near 160mph if I can catch a good tail wind.

Re: (OT) All Out Top Speed
LOL! I used to fly with a portable boat LORAN. Once I caught a good tail wind and when my ground speed got to about 140 knots the software crashed. The display froze for about 5 minutes and then came back and reported my position about 100 miles away from where I really was. Happened twice. I think this is why they finally shut down the LORAN system...

That is hilarious and scary at the same time. Not sure how anyone ever trusted that as a viable mode of navigation6643 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2019 1:05 pmLOL! I used to fly with a portable boat LORAN. Re: (OT) All Out Top Speed
Well, in fairness, I don't blame the LORAN system. After all, very few boats can approach 140 kts...
