My 140 the pedals move maybe an 1/2 inch and the brakes are really working. I flew another 140 a few weeks ago and the pedals moved maybe 2 inches before working and were much less sensitive. What’s everyone else’s planes like?

It'll probably vary according to wear in linkage and maybe even condition of fluid(?). That said, with my old
Goodyear brakes, the travel was more than with the Clevelands (which are approx.. 1/2", like yours). Also, the Clevelands are much smoother and provide more stopping power than is really needed...a good reminder to be easy on applying & to keep the tailwheel glued down on landing roll-out

. The Goodyears worked well when I could find and keep new/serviceable pucks which became more of a challenge over the years, hence the "conversion".

Are the brakes retracting properly? If they drag, there will be very little travel before they apply.
