Cessna 140 Desk Top Display Model

Post by 6930 »

I'm thinking of ordering a custom built model of my airplane from Factory Direct Models here: https://www.factorydirectmodels.com/

Has anyone had any experience with these people? Thought I would check to see before I made the plunge.

Thanks!

Not a bad idea....anyone interested in purchasing a model of their aircraft? If we get some interest I can check out what kind of discount we can get.

There are two companies that display at OSH every year........(except this one arrggghhh). I think this is one of them. The airplanes I've seen at OSH were pretty stellar! Just not sure if it's this company.

Hi Victor,

I ordered from one of those guys at OSH during Airventure in 2017. Paid up my $500.00. It was supposed to arrive by February 2018. February comes, no model. Called the guy...delayed to June or so....June, no Model. Called again...well, you get the point.

Two years after ordering the model, and a whole bunch of phone calls later, I ended up cancelling the order. In the guys defense he was always easy to get a hold of and was very pleasant to work with. It seems like he was having serious supply issues out of Thailand or the Philippines (forget which) and I’m happy to say he did give me my money back though, strictly speaking, I think he could have said no.

Anyway, that’s my tail of woe so far trying to get a model of my airplane. If I can find someone that has had a positive experience with Factory Direct, I may try again. If not, I probably will skip it.

Have a contact in the Philippines of a guy who was a NWA mechanic. His contact info is abe848@yahoo.com
I have had two models made by him over the year. .You just send him some pictures of your plane. These models are carved from wood and do not have interior views. not sure what the scale is but the wingspan is in the 12 to 15 inch range. Prices in the $200-250 range I believe.
Tell him Capt Nelson referred you.

Sounds interesting but my desktop has no more room. It seems to have become my filing system. ;)
