Greetings,
Brought home a nice 1946 C140 this week. Looking forward to learning more about these planes. My first goals are to redo the interior, door/window seals etc. Much to learn

Welcome!

I see you posted a photo in the photo thread. Be prepared to get an ear full about those wheel extenders... ;)

Good point John! I'm surprised you didn't mention the brake lines too. :-)

Welcome aboard and congrats on your 140!

PS, chucking the wheel extenders will save some weight!

Welcome! You're gonna love the "new" 140! As you're no doubt already aware, the bounce-a-matic gear makes landings interesting -- kinda akin to hitting a good drive @ golf, a good landing makes you want to do it again! :D . FWIW, I flew with extenders for a year or so before taking them off -- landings and ground handling improved...some ;) ... and we sure lost a bit of valuable weight plus less stress on the gear box. However, our Dir. of Maintenance has said often (...kiddingly..I think) that "If you believe that your 140 hasn't been on it's back, you probably don't have complete logs/records" -- there's a reason for that admonition. Keep us posted here as you continue to get acquainted and have fun(!) with that beautiful plane. Mac

I’d say address any airworthiness concerns if there are any, and then fly her for at least six months before you start “fixing” things.
After you get 50 hours of so I bet your priorities will change, and then you’ll know what you really want to spend your time and money on.

Dennis, Welcome and good choice of aircraft. The Assoc. will offer lots of Tech. Knowledge and the correct info you might need to have safe fun times flying. Great members too as you'll find out it starts with a convention, Georgia this year and you end up with extended family members. Hope to see you at a fly in or see us at Sun and Fun . Jeff
