That's a great story... thanks David for posting. What I found very interesting about the old gal's comments was her mention of how taking to the air allowed her to leave the stress of the day behind. My day job is very stressful and I have experienced exactly the same thing, but I never quite figured out why this happens or if anyone else experiences this too. All the best to the 90 year old flying great-grandmother, for me I'm just trying to make it to 70.

I agree about the stress relief as well. I think for me it's something about being so literally disconnected from everything. It's just me, the airplane and the open sky. My earthly problems have no room in the cabin and have to stay on the ground.

I've tried to explain this to non flyers for a long time...they just can't understand.

I think "High Flight" says it pretty good:
