Who Is/Was Neil Wright?

Post by 8164 »

I have used and referred-to so many of the Neil Wright articles available on this forum. They are a real treasure. It's rare to have access to that level of knowledge and expertise and have it documented for posterity. My question to the veteran members here is, who is Neil Wright? Is he still an active member? Because I'd love to shake his hand and say Thank You!

Who was Neil Wright is correct. Unfortunately Neil passed away several years ago, but he was a gentlemen who kept very detailed notes while working on components and aircraft accessories as they pertained to the Cessna 120/140 series. If memory serves me correctly I believe it was John Von Linsowe, our first website administrator who talked to and got permission from Neil to publish his library of Cessna 120/140/140A documents that are now shown on the website.

Correct, John Von and I worked extensively with "Neal" on obtaining his permission to post his tech articles. Neal was concerned about "re-writes" thus the files are read only. Neal was a long time member from the late 1980's (and also a "West Coast Cessna 120/140 Association member, there were two groups up until about 2015 The 'International' and the 'West Coast') that took a real interest in his aircraft. Being from Northern California (San Jose as I recall?) there were multiple aircraft and owners in his area and they all worked together solving issues that cropped up. I used to know the specifics, .......... Neal.......I "believe" was in the high tech world and an Electrical engineer. Probably on the cutting edge of computer tech, thus the nice graphics before they were so easily available for any computer "user". Neal was devoted to his aircraft and thankfully he felt compelled to catalog his "findings" for all the rest of us. Neal passed away about 10 years ago.

I stand corrected then it was John and Victor who worked with Neal. Sorry about that Victor, I was probably thinking of a BMW motorcycle for sale or was looking at a herd of deer in a field that I recently saw, and thinking of where to put the tree stand.

Correct Marc, Neil was a real treasure and a gentleman.
After I imported my 140 from the US 14 years ago I struck up quite a strong connection with Neil as he helped me iron out some of the bugs in the aircraft. I still treasure the way he helped and encouraged me.

I knew Neal and spoke to him on many occasions when he'd fly his 140 over to Livermore (California, KLVK). He was an old-school engineer, really down-to-earth. He was always helpful with advice and willing to lend a hand when needed. He'd come over to LVK to help another old member of this group, Lloyd Domeier, with his 140. They were both great people to be around.
