Re: leading edge winglight stc
In 2010, I purchased the STC SA1-436, Leading Edge Landing Lights and installation plans from
Woodstock Aircraft Services
PO Box 2
White Lake NY 12786
(845) 583-5830
www.woodstockair.com
info@woodstockair.com
ATTN: John Nichols
At the time, the cost of the LE light STC and plans were $150.00.
I reversed the long screws AN526-832R screws so the screw heads are behind the spars and used jam nuts with lock washers to secure the bulb retaining plates. This allows changing the bulbs by just removing the front bulb retainer plate, thereby leaving the rear retainer plate intact to preserve bulb alignment. The STC was set up with the screw nuts behind the spar, which means everything has to be disassembled to change the bulbs, and the alignment process repeated.
I also wrapped the edges of my bulbs in 0.020 red silicone tape to provide some shock relief. Tape is available from AC Spruce.
The outboard light is the taxi (tungsten filament is horizontal on GE 4509 bulb); inboard is the landing (tungsten filament is vertical on the GE 4509 bulb). GE 4509 bulb beam spread horizontal is 10 to 12 degree; 6 to 10 deg vertical.

More photos. I made a wooden mockup to form the acrylic lense and to test fit the parts.
