I hate to beat a dead horse ( or a live one for that matter.....unless he’s begging for it) but I could use some input and /or confirmation that I have correctly rigged my trim tab. Cable routing is exactly as shown in figure 48 of the IPC and as described in the clubs maintenance manual. I have also followed the exact setup procedure and have 6 degrees up and 33 degrees down travel after cable stops were installed. The system works nice and smooth, no crossed cables etc. When I rotate the trim wheel forward the tab moves up, when I rotate it aft the tab moves down. Is this in fact correct? For some reason it seems odd to me but if I am understanding the manual it is correct. One other note, I have only flown a 172 and have never flown this plane. I got it a year ago and have been working on the restoration since. Please let me know if this is operating correctly or if I have overlooked something. Thanks,
Mike

Re: Elevator trim tab rigging
Sounds right to me. I don't think the trim tab works any different in the 172 in terms of basic principle. If the tab goes up, it will push the elevator down, resulting in nose down and vice versa. Forward on the wheel should be nose down.

Re: Elevator trim tab rigging
Correct! The tab moves opposite the elevator and nose. Rolling the wheel back raises the nose and slows the airplane.

Re: Elevator trim tab rigging
Thank you both for the clarification. I’m sure I overthought this and started second guessing myself. I appreciate the responses. Best wishes,
Mike
