I've done searches on our forum with various descriptions of this part and haven't had any luck.
So, what is being used for the air vent grommet that fits in the trim in the upper corner of the windshield? The Cessna part number is 0413235 Grommet.
It's the same part number for the C150, and probably for all the single engine Cessnas with that vent.
Google search isn't much help. Air Power Inc has them for $305.86 each (that's a discounted price!). That won't happen in my world! Cessna Direct is a little cheaper at $304.21...what a deal! I've sent a request to Texas Air Salvage to see what they may have. I can get one on Ebay with the piece of trim for $99.00.
I found a close fit at rubber-grommets.com (RG70-50-60-2), but would like other options.
Mine are cooked and I painted them when I painted the trim that covers the opening. They look OK but won't be doing much cushioning for the vent tube.
Thanks for your suggestions in advance. I know I could contact Jim and Lorraine Morris at Taildragger Aviation, but thought I'd try our group first.

Re: Air Vent Grommet
I haven't measured, but rough guess is 2" ID(?). In looking around Ebay, there's a lot of 4 (2" ID X 2.5" panel hole) that might work(?) -- $13.75 for the 4. Another seller there has same size -- two for $3.75 + ship. There's a possibility that Columbia Airmotive might have some NOS -- contact via phone (503 665 4896). McMaster-Carr has some in stock slightly larger (...maybe too large?), but their price is higher @ $32.92 for just one. With exact measurements (...too cold in my hangar right now
) it sure seems that we can find some at "reasonable" price that'll fit/function as new...but, of course, if not replacing with the OEM part #, or STC'd or "legal superseded" our plane could be "unairworthy"
. (BTW, that's "Ken" & Lorraine

Re: Air Vent Grommet
I used a U-channel rubber from Aircraft spruce. Or, if you can find a grommet that's a little oversize, you can cut a small section out to make it fit.

Re: Air Vent Grommet
Mac, you're right on the id the size. 2" id x 2 7/8" od x 2 1/2" groove diameter. This is according to a post on the International Cessna 170 Assn site. I looked up the grommets on Ebay. I'd like them to be for a thinner panel. They have a 1/4" groove. I'll look Ebay some more, may be some skinnier ones available.
John, I have thought about using the channel. I may end up doing that if I can''t find a grommet that has a really thin channel.
Maybe some other suggestions will trickle in.
Mmmm...Hope Ken is forgiving! I've been emailing with Lorraine about some stuff...sure is nice to visit with. He must be also if she puts up with him! My son lives on the Valley Airport in Arkansas where Ken and Lorraine have a place. We didn't figure this out till last week. Hope to meet them next trip there.
Thanks for the help!

Re: Air Vent Grommet
I'm amazed at the number of "larger" grommets on Ebay -- some do appear close to what we'd need, 'though as you've observed, those I've seen so far do have a wider groove than ideal. Maybe there are some there among the many listings that'll work & fit well as we keep searching(?). John's suggestion works well, too -- that's what I've used for several years after he'd previously suggested (a tiny bit of clear RTV helps keep mine in place).
Yep, you can count on Ken & Lorraine both to demonstrate great senses of humor (and, patience!) as they put up with a lot of us needing stuff "right now" as well as the many requests for "how to's". An example: Even though super busy with the "Uno project", life, and their normal 110% day jobs, their response to a recent request for a sketch of the trim system helped one of our local members who is restoring a real basket case 140 in figuring out that puzzle. They're great examples of the many experienced, sharing contributors around 120-140 land. Mac

Re: Air Vent Grommet
Try Preferred Airparts in Kidron Ohio.
They show 3 in stock, but you will have to request a qoute.
You may be get lucky with the price.
I got a brand new old stock stiffner for a very resonable price just a few weeks ago.

Thanks, Rick!
I sent a request to Preferred Airparts. Hopefully it will fall in the 95% off category!
