As far as left and right, I recall someone years ago who tried reversing them left and right. The wings were all twisted up.

Years ago I noticed a 140 with a weird twist/bow on the rear right wing strut. Turns out it had a 'left' strut. Tried in vain to get the owner to fix it but he said it was 'signed off' so it was OK. Even found him a proper strut that the other guy would willingly swap.
He mentioned it was hard for him to get the jury strut attached......

Sorry, it was years ago and someone on the forum who had a 'wrong' strut he was willing to trade.
