If it's easier, just disconnect all of them. It's not like you're going to be shooting an approach to minimums anytime soon!

Seriously, I disconnected all instruments from the static port, removed all the static lines and fittings and there is no issue. I my opinion in these small VFR only airplanes it probably safer that way. If the static port gets blocked for some reason and you take off you will have none of your instruments reading correctly.

I agree with you. The altimeter will be slightly higher, increase the airspeed and doesn't affect the VSI at all. As for the static port being plugged, the instruments will be screwed up. Thank you for your help.

I disconnected the line just inside from the static port. I flew today and it works..The airspeed is about 12 MPH faster and the stalling the plane coincides with the published speeds. The altimeter works better too..it was bouncy but now it's not and the VSI is slow in responding but not bouncy either as it was before. Thanks everyone for your help.

Did you go through with the static line procedure? I just picked up a 46 140 and it exhibits the same anomalies. Airspeed 90mph (even with 0235) VSI 500 descent. - I agree that 65-70 ‘feels’ crazy fast
