Having had my right Eisemann magneto fail for the second time I'm just about to purchase a set of replacement items...

Ive looked at the Slick upgrade kit K4520-40, but also considered buying refurbished Bendix 10-500514-1R...

With no experience of either Im looking for some guidance... One overhaul shop in UK suggested Bendix over Slick, so interested in experieinced thoughts.

I have used, and liked, the Slicks for years. The Bendix are very good, too. Eisemann are pretty much obsolete!

Either Slick or Bendix will do the job. The price on the Slicks used to be a factor, but now I think there's not much difference between the two. The Slicks have more throw-away parts but the parts tend to be cheaper, so it's really a wash there, too.

IIRC, you'll need new/serviceable gears for the update... Just something to factor in the budget.

Good point... Luckily, having only recently carried out a major overhaul on the bottom end I've had the gears inspected and NDTd and all good. Should probably replaced the Eisemanns at the same time..

That's great...we are talking about the mag drive gears that are attached to the mags. Best I recall the gears on the Eisemanns will not fit on the new mags(?). Mac

That's great...we are talking about the mag drive gears that are attached to the mags. Best I recall the gears on the Eisemanns will not fit on the new mags(?). Mac

Understand.. I was referring to the mag gears... Part no 36067. They look to be the same fitting style for Slick Impulse?

Just swapped out my Eisemann's for TCM with harness. Slick's are OK. I have always had better service from TCM/Bendix. Don't forget spark plugs and "P" lead inspection to finish out the installation.

Hope so. We recently changed out the Eisemanns on Tom Reddeck's 140 (C85) and the drive gears had to be changed, too, as the Eisemanns would not fit. Maybe yours are a different model. Mac
