Cowl anti-chafe tape / seals

Have a question about where to glue the cowl anti-chafe tape (engine compartment), I have seen where it has been bonded to the fuselage and on others I have seen it glued to the underside of the doors ... is there a preferred method? Also, I have a 46 upper cowl (hinge line does not go all the way forward) so I am assuming the lower bowl is also a 46 (my plane is a 47). That said, the top side of the nose bowl where the front edge of the doors would close against ... I have 4 posts (per side) of what looks like short (.055" tall) spikes. Were these to hold/secure a much thicker anti-chafe seal at the front edge? I have seen a 46 lower nose bowl without these, thought maybe someone cut them off and just glued a new anti-chafe seal in place. The .050"+ height makes me think the front door seal is much thicker than what is on the back of the doors (against the fuselage). What have you used? and where was it glued? Recommendations? Original anti-chafe tapes /seals were long gone before I before I acquired the project and looking at others I found a lot of "creative variations", but what works best?

Thanks, Jim S
