We recently installed the Hookers in my 48 140. Turned out really nice...just follow the install instructions 8-)

This kind of deductive reasoning is pure gold !

I think there are two upgrades whose STCs are quasi mandatory:
1. Shoulder harness, I have installed Hooker and fortunately never used them !
2. A good full flow oil filter.

Very often I hear hangar talk about prices, when every one consider that maintenance is too expensive. And I always answer with a simple example:
There are two kind of prices: in the ground everything looks extremely expensive, but... in the air, how much would you have paid to avoid a stuck valve or a mishap due to an old safety belt or their broken attach ?

Finally, a word of thanks to Virgil Warren for writing many years ago about the importance to have the best available harness ! At the time I had the original design belt, one week after reading Virgil I was contacting Hooker and bringing one set to Buenos Aires. I will never forget that post !

How hard was it to work around the headliner or did you remove and reinstall it?

We removed the headliner for the install and replaced it with a new Airtex unit.
That being said, if your headliner is good ( and hasn’t been glued in every where like mine was) it’s a fairly straightforward process to drop it from the front and reinstall it. Lorraine Morris’ video is worth its weight in gold for the process.

Going one level deeper than this thread, where in the technical forums can I find how to convert from a single lap belt to a dual lap belt configuration which would allow me then to then add the Hooker Harness? If that forum topic does not exist, does anyone have either a STC or approved change (field 337?) with details how to make this modifications in a C-120?

Contact David Lowe, Lowe Aviation. He has an STC to convert to dual belts. You should be able to find his contact info in the main web site, or the member's directory.

Where did you get the little panels that go around the belts where they stick through the headliner? Also did the airtex liner fit well? I've seen a lot of comments saying that the parts that cover the wing root are pretty wonky.

Those particular pieces came with the air Tex headliner and we covered them with the material that we cut from the skylight openings. That being said, it’s just lexan and very easy to make yourself which is handy if you happen to over cut the slit in the headliner.
As for the Airtex headliner, it fit very well. The only tedious part came in laying out and cutting the skylight openings. We did have to manipulate the wing root covers for a better fit around the fuel gauges. I also recommend finding a welding supply house and buying a couple of stainless steel welding rods for the headliner stay rods.

Hooker Harness in my opinion is hands down the best solution. Install them AND wear them. Of course the AircraftSpruce option would be sufficient. Either way never ever take the cheap way out when after is involved.
