Hey all,
Newbie to the group and my ‘46 140. Before I go messing up my head liner, can anyone tell me if there are attachment points for shoulder harnesses, and if so where? I have “Y” style harnesses that I’d like to install.
Regards,
Canuck

There are no original attach points for shoulder harnesses on 120’s or 140’s.

I recall there's a Cessna bulletin that shows how to install nut plates on the inside of the rear spar. Also, several STCs but they generally also supply the belts. The Hooker Harness system is the strongest one I've seen.

+1 for Hooker Harnesses. It won't get any better. Also make sure you check the lap belt attach point between the pilot and co-pilot seats. Someone can confirm but I believe you want steel and not aluminum. Use a magnet to find out. The aluminum part has been know to fail. John or someone can correct me if I have that backwards. Ken and Lorraine checked mine when i got my harnesses installed.

Hooker Harness!!!!!!! Please don't Fabricate something. Hooker is so simple except for headliner refitting its easy.

Aircraft Spruce sells a very nice shoulder harness that is cheaper than a Hooker and only requires a bolt hole in the headliner. You might want to investigate that first before you start cutting the material for the Hooker installation.

Just installed hooker harnesses on Sunday. On of the easiest and best upgrades (not counting the overhauled gear boxes) that I have done.
Shoulder harness are one of the simplest ways to survive a mishap don’t fabricate something. If you already have y-type harness try calling hooker directly and see if you can order an install kit... worth a shot.

I agree on Aircraft Spruce.
Go to their website and search "shoulder harness".
It will come up with several choices and of course prices.
Choose one that Is STCd and that will give all of the Data that you will need to legally install them.
If you like the way your face looks now, the cost is cheap compared to what a mishap may cost you.

Does anyone have a picture of their headliners after the install? Particularly of the hooker version. I'd really like to upgrade from just a lap belt but I don't want to have to butcher my headliner.
