Not sure if you have already decided on your LED's but I can highly recommend this company: https://www.aero-lites.com/

I have bought the NavMax bulbs, the landing lights and some of the mini's for my instrument lights. All work great and the prices are very good and the service is exceptional.

If your Grimes is not a rotating type you may be able to replace the bulb with an LED.

For years I had a Whelen HRCFA Series "Comet flash". It "was" a great unit, it displayed a triple flash with lots of power(bright flash), however they would burn out about every 10 years like clock work. Whelen no longer makes them. (probably just as well)

I replaced it with a Whelen 9052051 unit. It's a nice unit, but dim compared to the comet flash........I wasn't expecting it to be so wimpy.......

Looking for a decent wing tip set up, to supplement "MR. Wimpy".

I know someone who has this on their bird, they say it works fine. Smaller, not "certified" but works.

Have had very good results on the fleet of planes with the low profile standard self contained beacon from Whelen, long life and way better then grimes or other mechanical type units. Tried the Christmas tree led and it was soon replaced because of being to dim.

Light bulbs do not need a PMA. Why spend $400 bucks for a light when a $40 will work just fine?

I used the products from Aero-lites.com and was impressed. Found them at Oshkosh two years ago. I’ve used their stuff in the 140,150 and a few Warbirds.
