Fitting new interior door handles

Post by per ardua ad astra »

Hi

I’ve got hold of two interior door handles from a C140 with the round visible mounting plate and 3 screw holes. Any ideas or ‘tricks’ to fitting them? Particularly connecting them to the internal latch bar? Looks fiendishly difficult for my big hands and chunky fingers!

Many thanks.

Take apart the rear part of the latch (at the rear of the door). It's been a while since I've had mine apart, but I think you can disconnect everything there, move the assembly forward, take the three screws holding the handle, and disassemble and reinstall all the appropriate parts. It's not too hard.

I would sit and look at and move around things like this for hours at a time until I understood how it all worked. At the same time I would list all of the parts and hardware necessary to return the door mechanism to its correct functionally. No problems since.Good luck :)

Thanks buddy.

I had presumed that must be the way to go. Nice to have confirmation.
