Oil pump

Unfortunately my 120 has not been flown in over 1year. Started it recently and got no oil pressure. I was told that if an engine (0-200) sits for long periods that the oil will drain into the sump and leave the oil pump dry. What is the best way to prime the oil pump?
Thanks.

There are a lot of different ways to solve this problem. Here's what worked for me when my oil pump and/or accessory case was worn. I have since replaced the pump and case.

Force some oil under pressure into the oil screen housing. The forced oil will go straight to the pump gears. You will have to remove the oil temp sensor to do this. I use a mustard container that is shaped like a barrel. The nozzle is conical and will force fit into the oil screen oil temp inlet. Just fill the container and give it two or three good squeezes. Worked every time for me.

...and, at some point when priming gets to be a hassle in avoiding "dry starts" , this is the only practical answer for a "fix". Mac
