That’s not a 140 bracket. The 140 bracket has compound curves.

Oh, it very well could be. His aircraft is a 1946; therefore, most likely it has the wheel extenders installed on the gear legs. Many years back there was published a template for making flat stock 0.040 aluminum attachment brackets for aircraft with extenders installed. I never did add them to my 1946 C-120 aircraft. I did order many, many years back fiberglass wheel pants and the brackets that came with those were for the later model 120/140's where the gear legs were moved forward - mid year 47? Those bracket plates have a 3-dimensional curvature and as would be expected are more compact in length and height.

Again way back when Bill Rhoades was Tech Adviser #021 he published a newsletter index for that time which was current as of Newsletter 113. One entry was "Wheel Pants backing plate w / gear extensions." in Newsletter 94, November 1985. That probably appeared as a "yellow sheet" supplemental, as was common back then, because the tech topic of discussion in that newsletter was about putting the O200 in our airplanes.

.I've only seen one half of a pair of the ones with the compound curves. Don't know where you or if you can find any. Open for suggestions. The flat brackets will work for the older style wheel pants. Of course there's a little tweaking needs to be done for a proper fit. But it's not hard.
Will the curve style even fit Cleveand calipers?

Maybe I'm missing something here, but the opening in the 140 wheel pant is almost round whereas that plate appears to be much more of an oval or rectangular shape. Looks like it might fit a 150 pant, but I can't see how it would fit one from a 140.
Additionally, mounting a 140 pant on a flat plate will stress the pant because the opening doesn't sit in the same plane as the axle mount, hence the compound curve.
