Rigging SL-49

Hi all

I need to lengthen the left wing rear strut as per SL-49. So far I have noted that access to the rear strut attach point is tight and also that the struts should not be placed on the ground after they are disconnected.

When doing the adjustment do I need to loosen the wing/fuse attachment or is there enough flex or play to leave these untouched?

Is there any other useful points from those whom have done this?

Much thanks
Simon

No, you don't need to loosen anything other than the rod end. The two struts are welded together and you cannot remove one without the other. Just flex it down enough to allow you to adjust the end. You'll need a helper to hold the rear spar up while you fuss with the end.

This does not fall under the heading of Preventive Maintenance, so your helper should be an A&P if you're not.

Much thanks John, that's exactly what I needed to know.

My helper is a NZ A&P equivalent (LAME), so really i guess I am the helper :D

Cheers
Si
