C140A Equipment List

I need a copy of the C140A equipment list.

I get to do a Conformity Inspection with FSDO, and the inspector needs the list.

There is a 120-140 equipment list in the Documents section, but nothing for the 140A. Internet searches have not been successful.

I sure would appreciate it if someone would make one available.

Thanks.

I believe our planes were certified before equipment lists were required. The closest you’ll find is the type certificate data.

With the age of our planes an original equipment list would have changed, etc and be way out of date!! Use what you have for a 120/140 as an example for what items are needed and create a current one, listing all the current installed relative equipment and have IA sign off. EL are often overlooked as a part of an annual inspection - that's how the inspector determines that the current W&B is correct. That can be a "gotcha" in the conformity inspection if the two items aren't compatible. I take the position that each item doesn't have to be fully annotated on the EL with weight and station numbers ("as installed") provided the items were present when the last weight was performed or there is proper documentation for the item installation since last W&B calculation. That's what a conformity inspection is all about - "aircraft meets the TCDS or as properly/legally modified".

The FAA CD for my plane includes the "Equipment List". Don't know if the one for a 140A would as it was certified under a different rule, but it's worth a look.

As Edd points out, though, it's really just the "as built" list and over the years, things change. The TCDS is what you have to conform to.

Thanks for your comments, guys!

I'm hoping one of the 140A owners will chime in here and offer a copy of their EL if they have one.

John, I also have the CD on my plane, but the Equipment List (EL) isn't on it. It starts out with the first inspection for the Air Worthiness Certificate.

The EL in our "Documents" is a great place to start if I can't find one for the 140A. Some time spent in the parts manual will result in a good list of optional equipment.

Cessna Technical Support is looking for one to email me, and thought they may have the original that went with my plane.

I love Textron's phone menu:

If Citation 650, press 1
If Hawker..., press 2
If Turboprop, press 3

Finally...
If Piston, press 7

Then, when talking to a real person...after a period of time on hold...
"Call this number, I think they can help you!"
Here's the number if you need to call them. It bypasses all the other numbers/options dance!

316-517-6215

If patient, you can eventually get hold of someone who enjoys digging for stuff for our planes, and they are fun to talk to!

I'll let you know what they find, and if it really is a EL for the 140A, I'll have Someone save it to the documents.

Received the 140A Equipment list (EL) and Weight and Balance from Textron this morning. They provided "blank" EL and W&B forms for the 140A AND the original EL and W&B for my plane as it left the factory. There was a $125 fee, but well worth it since I didn't have the data available.

Here's a copy of the blank EL.

There are some items in the TCDS that are not included in this list.

By the way, my 140A original empty weight was 962.5 lbs w/o oil. Only optional equipment was metal prop, radio, cabin heat, landing light and recording tachometer(+28 lbs). It has gained 40 lbs over the past 71 years!

Is that all? Have you weighed the plane? If not, I'd almost bet money it's at least 50 lbs more than you think.

We just did an official weight and balance...1,019 lbs with oil, so subtract the 9 lbs of oil and it is 47.5 lbs over weight! John, you are pretty close!

It has at least 2 paint jobs on it, and really heavy interior.

Bringing a "destroyed" airplane back to life requires jumping thru a lot of hoops!
