Seat frame holes

My airplane originally came with the seat cushions and I want to switch to the seats that use a frame.
Airplanes with serial number 11842 and below used a cushion and after that they used a frame.
I need to know the location of the holes that the frames go into.

Thanks in advance,

Rick

I believe that there's a difference in the floor pans, so it may be that the framed seats won't be a drop in, even with the holes drilled(?). If no one wades in with definitive info. I may be able to provide pics of both in a few days (...kinda cold in mine and my neighboring 140 owner's hangar today ;) ). Mac

That's my recollection, too, but I bet David Lowe knows the answer. Might be a good idea to give him a call. I know the contour of the floor is important, because if you swap the seats left for right, they won't fit correctly.

Why not get the frames and then drill holes to fit? Macs pictures should give you the pan,etc layout to see what frames you'll need. My serial # is 13913 with the frame seats. I can give measurements to compare with Macs - just too old to do pics, etc, however, if "back is to wall", I can do digital pics and get family to send or run hard copies and mail.

The IPC shows that from serial number 10070 and higher all used the same seat pan. Figure 15.
The seat frame usage started from serial number 11843. Figure 41.
I have serial number 11245. So my pan should be correct. I just need to know where to put the holes.
I think I know where they go, but would like to know for sure.

Interesting. I have sn 10503 and I have the later seats, with holes. If I get to the airport before someone posts the answer, I'll locate the holes for you.

Note that the seats for the 120 are different. I think they always had cushions with no frames.

It is (getting even more) interesting. I have SN 9351 and have the later seats. As David and Victor remind us from time to time, a "few" parts and pieces have been changed out over the years(?). (FWIW, and may or may not be related, I also have the "Angle Support" #0411502 L & R in my gear support area.) (In my mind's ear, I'm hearing Johnny Cash singing "One Piece at a Time" ;) ). Will try to get pics today...just don't find those rountoits as fast as I used to :| .Mac

It is (getting even more) interesting. I have SN 9351 and have the later seats. Joe Mancusi's '47 120 had the later seats, but "converted" to 150 seats -- I borrowed his old take-outs while mine were being reupholstered. Hopefully these will help a bit? If you need more, or if you need measurements...let me know. I haven't got that 'rountoit to compare floor pans with neighbor's 140, but will do ASAP & report. Hope this'll help. Mac

That should do it.
