Where are we sending mufflers for repair these days? My C-150 left muffler has some flame baffle issues...

Custom Aircraft Parts in California does excellent work. Years ago I sent one of my Bonanza ones that needed the flame cone inside replaced (which is common on the BOs) and they completely disassemble, bead blast and will contact one if other parts need replaced. Check their web page and give them a call to discuss. They are big with the Bonanza crowd so you know they must be OK.

Well, so far Aerospace Welding says they don't do repairs on these as it is not cost effective and suggested I simply buy new. I noted their price went up $50 in the last 24 hours to $513. Actually it seems to go up a little every time I hit their website...

Custom in El Cajon CA does repairs but also suggested that it may not be cost effective. Clinton spoke with me for a bit, very professional.

Have an enquire to Aircraft Exhaust in South Carolina, don't know anything about them. They show a new 0450400-3 but no price.

I have no sense of how Wag Aero does, but their cost shows $299 to repair. Anyone have any experience with them?

That’s what happens when there is less or no competition.

Wag Aero is a good outfit. Years ago they helped me out with seat belt rework when the FAA started requiring tags on both sides of belts - back then they went the "extra mile' helping me to meet the reg. More recently, when I needed heat muff end caps only (for another plane) the lady was very knowledgeable and knew exactly what I needed and at a fair price. Since you have such a good photo, I suggest you call to discuss the flat rate price and send your photo of the problem - possibly talk to some one in the muffler repair area. FWIW

I remember that! I got a letter in the mail and later, a pair of new belts.

Talked with Wag Aero this morning, they are not doing muffler repairs these days, citing parts procurement issues and nobody to do the welding apparently. Been that way since mid-2021 apparently according to Suzy...

Good grief, who would have thought a simple muffler repair would be so much trouble....
