Cylinder Part Numbers

Hi,
I bought a bunch of parts from a fella cleaning out his hanger. It included two reconditioned cylinders most likely from a C90. I started down the rabbit hole and haven't hit the end yet. Is there anywhere where I can enter a cylinder part number and see it's history and applications? There seams to be an endless number of variations on part numbers and no way to sort them out.
Your help is much appreciated.

The differences between different applications have to do with the valve springs and pistons more than the actual cylinder and cylinder head.
The only thing you're going to get from numbers cast into the cylinders is the casting number.

contact Continental, or a big O/H shop and ask for the best cylinder tech. if they have time they might give you CORRECT info. Or just ask Randy Thomson like I said someone that knows.

Ok, fair enough, I thought there would be more too the cylinder part numbers. I found a little bit of info on the Cessna 150 website. I also found this at Continental aero, gives me a bit on where the cylinders fall but not why the part was changed.
