Lift Strut Surface Corrosion

Hey everyone! I'm the new owner of N72915, a 1946 140 (s/n 10109) out in western Minnesota. One of the things that I noticed on the airplane when I was watching the pre-buy and subsequent annual inspection done on it is that the lift and jury struts need some care. The paint on the leading edges of the struts has worn away enough to allow some very light surface corrosion to start. It wasn't an airworthiness issue, but I'd like to get it addressed before it can become one. The I/A doing the work mentioned that it could be cleaned off and repainted pretty easily. Obviously not going to try anything myself without an A&P involved, but was curious if anyone else has run into this before and has some insight on what the repair process was like.

The other thing about the struts is that the padding between the jury struts and the lift struts is really worn out. No metal on metal contact yet, but probably won't be long. Anyone have a lead on replacement padding?
