Hi,

My firewall fiberglass insulation is in rough shape, I keep trying to keep it in place but I'm losing the battle.

What's the proper replacement material? Another post noted closed cell foam, is there a part number?

Airtex makes a cover but it’s a major job to replace.

I have used the following system on at least 10 planes I have restored over the years. I buy the quilted firewall material from WagAero.it comes in a roll that is wide enough that it does not have to be spliced. I also buy the fiberfrax material from Aircraft spruce and glue it to the inside of the firewall with the special high temperature silica glue they also provide. This material comes in 24” rolls and has to be spliced, but no problem, it is sandwiched between the FW and the quilted one piece blanket. The quilted blanket is held to the fiberfrax with contact 3M cement in an aerosol can. This method gives both acoustic and thermal protection. Use the contact glue sparingly, there are more that enough attach points with all the controls and wire penetrations to hold the assembly in place. I have never had a “blanket” come loose.

Well thanks for the info, both seem like good options.
