HELP!

Post by 8215 »

I am starting a very basic restoration. I want to put all new interior and repaint interior/exterior. Repairing radio, Installing new ELT atenna, install new windshield, Repairing fuel tank filler nozzel.

I already have all the carpet and headliner out. for painting, I want to take off the doors.

I want to take the doors off, but the hinge screws seem to actually be bolts in the door post... The bolts go through the door posts, so if there it is actually a nut in there, I can not access it. the post is all riveted. I do not do rivets. I do not want to drill out any rivets or rivet anything in. for one thing I dont have a tool, for another thing, I have never done it before...

The nuts (actually nut plates) should be riveted to the inside of the door post. Just be careful not to strip or damage them. They may have been undisturbed for over 70 years...

Another way of removing doors is to push the hinge pin up from the bottom till it comes out. You will need to remove the wing to fuselage fairing to accomplish that.
