hole in cowling for brackett filter?

My 140 has a Brackett air filter. The cowling has an ugly hole to clear the filter frame, with a kind of "field-fit" level of quality. The hole is definitely not to the kind of quality I'd expect from the factory. I've never seen a factory air filter, though. Can anyone comment on this? Does a factory filter installation have a more polished cowling hole? Any pics of a factory setup?

The hole should be the same. My guess is your cowl has been repaired, or "modified" to fit sagging engine mounts. Is it the right filter? BA-4106?

There's not much to it; it's just a hole. I have a couple of thousand pictures from the old forum, unindexed, of course. That hole is not real photogenic, I guess. Here's a picture of a cowl someone is restoring.
