Anyone ever installed an O-300?
Has anyone ever installed an O-300 in a 140? If so, can you refer me to an STC or a Field Approval? Thank you.

I actually was thinking about the O-300. Just curious if any has ever done it.
Rumors (wives' tales?) exist about mythical field approvals for O-320 installation. The O-320 has similar mass to the O-300.

Very briefly about a year or two ago there was an O-320 powered 140 on the market. I searched wide and far about an STC and even emailed the owner (no response). Seems it must have been a field approval.

I've seen one, years ago, at a convention. The owner flew in with his wife and some baggage. During the convention we had a weight and balance clinic. A lot of planes got weighed that day. The guy with the O320 had to arrange a commercial flight to get his wife home...
There may have been a McKenzie STC for it. The McKenzie STCs were broken up and sold to a number of folks. Some of the engine mods for 120/140s are currently held by Russel Conversions. The O320, if it existed, doesn't show up.
Oh, an O-300 is a lot longer than an O-320. More lead in the tail...

We had an 0-320 Cessna 140 here in Vancouver WA many years ago, climbed like a bat outa hell, family had some difficulty selling it when the fellow passed, we asked about paperwork or field approval but to no avail. Very dark green with white stripes on the wings and skull and crossbones on the tail I think.

If you can find the N-number you can request the records on file for the plane.

Wow, an 0-300 in a Cessna 140! How in the world would it ever be in safe weight and balance? I bet the nose looked like something similar to that turbo prop Luscombe that was converted several years ago.
