Has anyone had any luck with removing fuel tank sealant from a wing tank? I just noticed small bits of the sealant in the fuel after sumping. Any suggestions are appreciated.

I realize if I DO get the sealant removed it’ll probably open up the leak that the tank was sealed in the first place for but I’m willing to try anything before cutting the fabric.

Not sure what sealant was used in the tank. It’s a dark brown color.

Not sure if this will help your particular situation, but I had a similar problem with my 140A patroller. I did remove the tanks, capped the ports, and inserted 1/2 gallon of acetone and 1/2 cup of BBs. I let it set in the summer sun for a while to soak and then would shake the tank to agitate the BBs. Then after a few of those I would drain and repeat. It took patience but I didn’t have to split the tanks and reweld them. Tried to add some pictures but it says the files are too large.
