My flap handle button stays in when depressed. It won’t engage the flaps. Has anyone had this happen or does anyone have a drawing that illustrates how this mechanisms works.? It is a 1947 Cessna 140

Check out the parts manual available in the Resources -> Documents section of the main web site.
Parts 37 and 41 latch the lever in the correct spots.

The parts manual doesn’t show what part numbers for part 41 and 37. I sent your diagram to the mechanic, any idea where I could order the parts?

Start with Preferred Air parts out of NW Ohio and/or Yingling (big Cessna dealer in Wichita)

Odd... Mine does.
15-37 0425121 Latch - Flap Lever
15-41 0425130 Spring - Flap Lever
Male sure they're broken before you waste time trying to find replacements.

I had this problem. I inspected the latch (#37 in the diagram) and found a worn spot that would allow the latch to rotate too far and get jammed into the depressed position. I had a TIG welder apply a small amount of filler metal to build up the worn area. Then filed it back to the original profile. Now no more jams.
