I've found this crack in the skin near the strut root. Both sides of the airplane have a crack in the same area but the left side is the most serious. I'm looking for any repair options/suggestions as well as an idea how serious this is as far as airworthiness is concerned.

Any luck or info yet on this?

Consult AC43-13 for a repair. That's a pretty thick plate, though, and there's a lot going on there (gear box, strut, door post, etc), so you might have a hard time fitting enough rivets in to make a suitable repair.

You may want to stop drill it for now until you can get a replacement panel or fabricate one.
