I have a 1946 140 serial number 9440. Are the aileron push rods bent or straight?

They do have a subtle bend. See page 19 in the IPC.

They should be bent.

How much bend should there be and should they both be the same?

The bends are the same, my bends are closer to the belcrank. I'd wild-ass guess maybe a 5 degree bend?
If you study the thing, you can see that the rod is trying to run the bearing attached to the bellcrank in a horizontal plane and the bearing at the aileron connection in a vertical plane. There has to be a bend somewhere as one attach point is higher than the other.
Without the bend, the rod/bearing attached to the bellcrank end might be rubbing against the bellcrank halves when it is in motion, just my best guess...
Not the best pic but you can just make out the bend that is closer to the bellcrank.
