My tank selector valve seems to be leaking.A few drops into the belly. Is there an economical way to refurbish this valve
I see a rebuild kit listed for $700, but that seems exorbitant, so I'm hoping there's a cheaper option. Thanks Karl

Is it leaking from the shaft packing? If it's the original Imperial valve, there should be a leather packing under the big nut. You can try "rejuvenating" it with Fuel-lube (now EZ-Turn) or there's a post here somewhere about replacing it with a pair of O-rings. Years ago I fixed mine with one o-ring and a spacer, but the double o-ring idea sounds easier.
I am not aware of a repair kit. Do you have any more info?

Assuming it's the old brass on brass valve, left-right-off, then all you can try is drain all the fuel and remove the bonnet of the selector, clean and dab/smear just a
little EZ Turn fuel lube on the truncated cone. Re-assemble. If the brass cone/seat is really scored you'll need to look into another valve (check UNIVAIR). There is a packing under the bonnet where the valve stem comes through. An M83248/1-109 o-ring is what I've been told. One member used a fat fuel injector o-ring Napa # 2-12085.
Use the SEARCH function on this forum and you'll get an earful. Here are a few useful links.

Here's an example of an original fuel selector Left-Right-Off so you can see what you are dealing with. Pretty simple. You don't need to remove the valve body from the aircraft to do the basic maintenance.

Seems crazy that a simple three way valve could cost $686, but here it is from Aircraft Spruce:

It's $49 for the valve and $637 for the paperwork.
