I bought a set of 120 wings to re-cover. The left side had leading edge landing and taxi lights. When I pulled the remaining cover off, I saw that the lights had been mounted to the main spar one bay inboard of the normal spot. These are the holes that are in the spar from the mounting bolts. I’ve asked the guy I bought the wings from to see if there’s any documentation for the light installation (he was a pass-through owner and is keeping the airplane they were mounted to).

Has anyone seen this before? Is there an STC or an approved 337 with a drawing for this arrangement? If not, can it be repaired?

I believe the in-wing lights are based on the 150 setup. Maybe looking into how that STC is installed would be a good start. I’ll try and find mine in the meanwhile.

If I read your post correctly you feel the installation you have is "one rib bay inboard of normal mounting location?".
I don't know as or how the STC allows for placement, you could always contact John and see what he has to offer.

As far as the four extra holes in you wing spar, probably not a big deal. An option would be to contact an airframe(as opposed to an Engine DER etc) DER and have them draw up a simple fix for it.

You could design a patch based on AC43-13, but then you'd end up with a lot more holes. Close it up and go fly...
