Ventube Air Vents

My 120 has old metal Ventubes installed. They won't stay pushed in (air pressure blows them back out). I have seen a cure online by using the soft side of velcro material to provide some friction. Before I try to remove anything, should these just pull straight out or do I have to do anything to remove?
Thanks

You may want to contact the Ventube folks (Vantage Plane Plastics). They have instructions that come with the "kit" that seem to indicate Velcro strips may be included(?). There instructions indicate that you can remove the inner tube by aligning the spleens on the tubes...then, place Velcro strips down in the outer tube and reinstall the inner. I'd think that most any Velcro would work, but it may be that they'd just send you some? Felt seems to work pretty good in the OEM vents. It is aggravating when the vents pop out, especially when it's cold as heck...and, that's gonna be happening soon. Let us know how it works out. Mac

Thanks Mac. My challenge is the version I have installed predates the Plane Plastic version and is metal. It doesn’t look at all like what they sell now so I was looking into any insight I could get before I start tearing into it. BTW, the cold has already hit!

Ah...I see now that you'd mentioned that they're the metal ones. I'll look around the airpark here...there's a couple of neighbors who may have those and may have applicable experience. ...hate to see shorter daylight and colder temps -- already looking forward to spring!

I don't know if this'll help at all, but ran across the pic, FWIW.

I have covers that fit on the exterior inlets blocking the air flow before it gets inside the plane. I installed them last week.

The previous owner of my 120 used the covering below. Not a fan.

Nothing wrong with duct tape. Just make sure the speed rating is at least 1.5 times Vne.

Agreed, it's always good to have handy. Just didn't look very good applied to the vent intake port.

I'm guessing they didn't take the time to trim it to fit...
