New member here. My new 120 (1947) just failed the exhaust inspection (old style "pancake" mufflers). Can anybody recommend a source for repair or replacement? Is the 150 STC the only option? My IA also thinks the carburetor air box should be replaced. Anybody have a source for those? Thanks in advance!

Sorry I do not know about the exhaust but the Carb air box can be purchased form Wag-Aero, Aircraft Spruce and probably Univair.
What is wrong with the box?
They make repair kits for them.
It just depends on what is bad.
Same sources for repair parts.

The (several) 150 exhaust STCs are really the only choice for the pancake mufflers.
Here is a good one, and you're supporting other association members.

Thanks for replies! Follow-up question: Does the C-150/O-200 exhaust bolt right up on the C-85? If so, is the 120/140 norm to go with the 150 up to but not including tailpipe(s) and then weld on tailpipes to fit 120 cowl openings? If so, are these pre-fab tailpipes available? Thanks again, much to learn!

I have ( I hope ) found a company in the UK that is making the top part of these

Which are the Henlow Wilson modification to the original straight stacks. The Mufflers and lower pipe are in good condition but the exhaust down pipes need replacement - they are using the originals as templates as the drawing above is not accurate for the P2 side ( right ) arrangement of stacks. When they are done I will post a picture. The company are reputable aircraft exhaust fabricators and the new stacks will come with the necessary paperwork. Happy to post a picture of the finished items when they are back with me.
The nice thing is this will keep the "bark" of the exhausts that are currently fitted.
