engine mount
How can you confirm that an engine mount is from a Continental 90 engine? I am complying with STC for the O-200 engine and according to the aircraft log book the airframe/engine mount previously had the C-90 engine installed. My understanding is you can use the C-90 engine mounts for the 0-200 STC installation. The engine mount stands 12-3/4 inches tall.

On the left side, where the engine bolts to the mount, there will be a angled pipe welded to the upper and lower attach points. As viewed from the cockpit. It had to be a C-90-14, that used lord mounts.

What Randy said. The C90-12 used the same mount as the C85-12. The C90-14 uses the same mount as the O200. The later mount has an extra bracing tube as Randy described.

Is the actual difference between the mounts that added angled brace bar? Are the mount pads identical to the 140A?

The Mount in the picture is about 3/4 of an inch closer to the firewall. With the lord mounts like the C-90-14 and the O-200’s use the cowling fits right!

Univair makes a PMA approved mount, U0451111. I believe the one Aircraft Spruce sells is the Univair part. I don't know if you can get it from Cessna, but I'd bet that if you can it will be at least as much.
Preferred Airparts does a big business in used and surplus parts. Worth a try, as well as some of the bigger wrecking yards, like Wentworth and Texas Air Salvage.
There used to be a guy who sold adapters to use the conical mount on the O-200 on E-bay, but he seems to have disappeared. He also had a web site, http://www.continentaladapter.com/ but all I get is a blank page. I know some people who have used them in the past and gotten them approved. Or, if you're handy with a lathe, you could whip up a set.

Oh, just one more thing...
There was another STC, the owner may have been called David Emmet (Gary Rice?...30 year old memory...) Anyhow, it allowed the original mount and an extension to the rear of the cowl to accommodate the ~3/4" shift of the engine forward. I'm sure I have more info buried upstairs if you're interested.

What is the actual Cessna part number for the C-90-14 mount? The C-90-14 uses the same mount as the O-200? So would not the mount (0451114-1) being modified for conventional landing gear, from my O-200A equipped '59 150 be acceptable, for my '46 140? The MASA tail dragger equipped 150 will be getting an O-320. Thanks

The O200 uses the same mount as the C90-14. There was never an O200 mount for the C120/140. (Semantics...)
So would not the mount (0451114-1) being modified for conventional landing gear, from my O-200A equipped '59 150 be acceptable, for my '46 140?
Maybe. The key is if the distance from the firewall to the mount pads is the same. I know that there were some early 150's built from 140A fuselages, so the firewall and, likely, engine position within the cowl is the same. You would probably need a field approval to deviate from the STC parts list. Randy Thompson might have more specific information.
All the 150 taildragger conversions I've seen still had the mount points for the nose gear, so you may have to get any modification to the mount approved as well.
