Cowl Hinge Pin

My hinge pin keeps working its way out during flight. Suggestions to keep it in place?

Here is a visual. I push it back in place and after the next flight, it's already started to work back out.

Push it in until it is recessed about 1/8" into the hinge then crimp (flatten) the end if hinge over. Shorten the pin so it doesn't stick out the back, if necessary; the back should also be crimped.

Got it, I'll look next time I'm at the hangar and give it a go.

Thanks!

Back in the NL archives there's a chilling article by our NL editor describing his forced landing due to the hinge pin creeping forward into the propeller on his 120. Apparently, if (when?) it occurs, the noise and vibration and potential "digging" damage to the prop comes pretty fast. Mac

LOL, wish I could take credit but that's the ladder at the fuel pump at my home base.

 Had that happen one time. I've also seen a hinge pin mark up a wooden propeller bad enough that it should not have been used.
