Engine alignment

Just completed re-hanging my engine, 47 C-140 w C85-12. Noticed when installing lower cowl prop flange almost touches cowl (co-pilot side). The Cowl doesn't seem to have any play/ adjustment. There is a wide torque range on the rubber mounts so feel confident I can stay within torque range and move the engine flange to center of cowl. Is this OK? How do you ensure the engine alignment is appropriate to the center line of the fuselage? What is the reference point. For those of you who have done this before ... what did you do? Any help appreciated, Thanks

What was the conclusion to the engine alignment problem? You must have resolved it by now
