Oil Filter Adapter Options/Advice
First time caller, long time listener. I’ve searched fairly extensively and didn’t see any threads related to the different oil filter adapters available. I currently have the ADC reusable filter/cooler mounted on the fire wall. I am considering replacing with an adapter for a spin-on filter to make replacement and oil changes a bit easier and cleaner. The reusable screen inside the ADC while nice is a pain to unbolt, clean and reassemble. Also my oil temps run on the cooler side and I don’t need the heat dissipation, Seattle based, and am more concerned with getting it up to Temp! It looks like most on here use the Tempest TAF-L adapter. I also saw an adapter made by Airwolf. Both systems have the same function of filtering the oil, but the Airwolf is a remote firewall mount and the Tempest is an engine mount. While I lean towards the Airwolf from the start for a simple upright spin-on/off it does require more parts, pieces, etc than the simple engine mount of the Tempest. Let the dissertation begin....
Fly it til it’s in the hangar!
